The Virtual Mill: Base b
Supported by the BFTT SME R&D Programme and Innovate UK.
Collaborating with digital 3D design and development consultant, Jessica Garvey Birch, this 17-month project investigated how to create a cleaner, more transparent, and more accessible textile industry through digital interventions.
Through the development and integration of digital tools with sustainable industrial production and novel block-chain technologies, the Virtual Mill aims to deliver an elevated digital experience for sustainably designing and manufacturing woven fabric.
The long-term ambition is a scalable model for localised circular textiles development that can be replicated across global regions.

Dash & Miller have partnered with environmental innovation company Pilio to look at designing viable traceable UK supply chains through nature-positive farming and novel digital systems, supporting livelihoods, climate action, and biodiversity to enable net-zero.
Using a comprehensive approach we have compiled research on the British fibre landscape, evaluated regenerative wool growing protocol development, investigated scoping and alignment to industry standards, and have worked to
map system requirements for UK supply chains.
The focus of this innovation responds to the need for a regenerative and digitally traceable wool production model, as well as addressing the challenges faced by sheep farmers, manufacturers and fashion brands in the UK.
